Warning: COMET impact

VIVA COMET 2011 gets a meteoric appearance by Parasol Island

We guess that a handful of people outside of Europe haven’t even heard of VIVA before they launched their amazing new on air package in January 2011. The whole new appearance is freaking awesome and reminds us of the good old days of MTV. As big fans of this new aesthetic, we were really keen on doing something for this European music channel.

Lucky us, MTV Networks Europe felt the same way and invited us to create the entire on air package for their annual award show Comet 2011. Being a part of the MTV generation, we really wanted to develop something exceptional, catering to the needs of the revived music channel. We quickly had the vivacious idea to visualize the comet’s birth and create a fantasy atmosphere full of living crystals, fairytale smoke and cosmic dust. Yes, we managed to capture the moment when the biggest german music award finally sees the light of day.

We wanted to share this one with you for weeks and since the Comet 2011 kicked off last friday, we can finally unveil the show’s opener. If you didn’t know VIVA before, you sure will now!

Reebok

RunPrime

DDB Tribal Berlin came up with a nice & edgy idea for a spot showcasing the Reebok RunPrime for Kids. A brief summary of this particular brainchild would be: Create a visual world showing that kids can rely on their Reeboks no matter how active they are.

We were ready for a run and produced a stop motion masterpiece under the special direction of Matt Cooper, introducing “the shoe that fits you no matter what you do” to the US market. Frame by frame and with painstaking attention to detail, the spot arose with a refreshing and unique hand-made edge.

Curious for the final score?

Bring it up for the latest stop motion hat trick directed by our Sporty Spice Matt.

Sunrise

Synrise!

The awesome new video by Goose. Directed and Produced by David Strindberg & Johan Bring of PUNX STHLM. These guys actually wrote Goose on February 1 saying that they’re huge fans and three weeks later they delivered a video which obviously was approved. Can life be easier than that?

How Are You Doing?

A hilarious series of epic disasters

Visual innovator Michel Gondry made his name directing mind-bogglingly cool videos. His newest charmer is for The Living Sisters’ sweet single, “How Are You Doing?”. Gondry creates a hilarious series of epic disasters as the soundtrack to the sweet and dulcet tune from the indie supergroup’s debut release. The director decided to momentarily downsize his ambitions, returning to the small screen (your laptop, not TV) with a new music video. This clip’s got some grit: Eggs get scorched and the house goes up in flames. A dog laps up some expelled amniotic fluid from the kitchen floor. And a commercial jet crashes into an office tower. But don’t worry … Everyone emerges unscathed.

hip hooray

& happy birthday

Turning 18 is a special event for everyone. It’s not just another birthday, but a major milestone which means you can finally get into clubs, do your driver’s licence and all those things you have been dreaming of since adolescence. The 18th birthday should be celebrated to the fullest. Ferrero decided to do exactly that by airing a special TV-series of entertaining mini-spots where we follow the Schoko-Bon character on his journey to reaching the age of majority. M&C Saatchi Berlin came up with the lovely boards and our director Steve Scott was the perfect choice to bring them to life. He not only developed the Schoko-Bon character but also created a whole new comic surrounding for the commercials, accompanied by music from our inhouse composer Jonathan Wulfes.

We say hip hip hooray and happy birthday.

“Coalition of the Willing”

The film

24 filmakers from around the world came together to create “Coalition of the Willing” an animated film about the online war against global warming in a “post Copenhagen” world. The film has been crafted by professional artists and filmmakers using an array of eclectic techniques. Since February, sections of the film have been released every two weeks onto the Coalition site; this innovative staggered release allowing the argument to be re-defined even as the film is being made. The complete film’s official launch took place on Wednesday 30th June at London’s Richmix cinema. At the same time Parasol Island & Sehsucht (german contributers to the movie) showed the masterpiece at CSA Bar in Berlin. For those who couldn’t be there, here you go:
