REVIEW
wants you

REVIEW kicked off 2012 with some digital fireworks by relaunching their website. The brand spanking new site is a fashion playground that not only draws attention to REVIEW’s collections but also involves the customers to interact with content. Along with the website relaunch, REVIEW TV got initiated which aims to find an Online-VJ to lead the campaign. Their job (if you can call it one) will be to report from fashion events and comment on the latest trends in music. Parasol Island developed the new website – including content like the latest campaign movie shot in L.A. – and created the REVIEW TV campaign.
The Irritation Blues
by “Nivea for men”

Do you know the feeling when you use the wrong deodorant? It feels kind of itchy and painful! For our latest spot for Nivea for men we wanted to demonstrate this little predicament in a provocative and entertaining way. NETEYE came up with the idea for the spot and our director Norbert Heitker turned the whole scenario into a cinematic symphony documenting men and their daily morning routines. For this chart breaker we recorded the sounds of men using their deodorants and mixed it all together to create a howling masterpiece of music: Volume up for the irritation blues.

Along with our director Eric Hillenbrand we produced a commercial for Grey Düsseldorf that celebrates some of Brother’s product icons throughout German contemporary history. From the legendary words that changed the World in 1963 to the falling of the Berlin wall. Brother was there. DOP Michael Schreitel captured the magic of the moment with the help of some talented actors and flawless set design. So if you’re ready ladies and gentleman, buckle up and enjoy the ride.

Skinemax
A nostalgic VJ odyssey through 80s and early 90s B-movie VHS tapes

Skinemax is Koyaanisqatsi for a generation raised on late night television and B-movie VHS tapes. It’s long form entertainment for short attention spans. An hour long VJ odyssey, it will move your body and warp your mind.
A nostalgic look back at a half remembered childhood growing up in the 80s and early 90s, Skinemax takes a close look at the culture of that era. The images that motivated, delighted, and terrified us on the silver screen, set to propulsive modern music that pines for a simpler time.
Please support the original works, these are film makers and musicians that have upheld the values of originality and creativity.

Eurobest Award 2011 Winner
MTV Sexidents

Earlier this year Grey Germany created some pro-condom cartoons for MTV Switzerland. Super hilarious and spot on with creativity, these print ads promoted the message “Sex is no accident. Always use a Condom.” So, old news is that everyone liked the print campaign and reviews were raving all over the internet, it even won silver at Cannes Lions 2011.
Fresh news is, that we managed to make it work as classic animation piece as well. Along the brief – this “really has to look shitty!” and “do you remember 1987?” – our in-house director Charles Bals and his team returned to cell animation and illustrated backdrops. Then copied the master to VHS tapes back and forth until the look was wasted enough. The awesome 80′s tunes were arranged by our composer Jonathan Wulfes. The result is certainly not an accident and will melt your screen like ice in the sunshine.
Today’s Newsflash: The MTV campaign won a bronze Eurobest Award 2011. Glad we can help to raise awareness on today’s World Aids Day!

Animation Director Hans Schultheiss hooked up with Parasol Island.
Another surprise, we are happy to welcome Hans Schultheiss (former Sehsucht) on our island. The young animation director and creative joined Parasol Island fulltime et non-stop. Hans is looking back on a successful history as an award-winning motion designer, animation director and illustrator. His aesthetics are truly “holy shit” and his cinematic skills a valuable co-pilot when approaching animation like a classic film maker.
So may we introduce to you, the act you’ve known for all these years,
Sir Hans Schultheiss.
