“Coalition of the Willing”

The film

24 filmakers from around the world came together to create “Coalition of the Willing” an animated film about the online war against global warming in a “post Copenhagen” world. The film has been crafted by professional artists and filmmakers using an array of eclectic techniques. Since February, sections of the film have been released every two weeks onto the Coalition site; this innovative staggered release allowing the argument to be re-defined even as the film is being made. The complete film’s official launch took place on Wednesday 30th June at London’s Richmix cinema. At the same time Parasol Island & Sehsucht (german contributers to the movie) showed the masterpiece at CSA Bar in Berlin. For those who couldn’t be there, here you go:

No time for a trip to London? Luckily PARASOL ISLAND & SEHSUCHT (german contributers to the movie) are going to show “Coalition of the Willing” at the same time at CSA Bar in Berlin.

About the project:

Coalition of the Willing is a politico-environmental film made by a network of 20 collaborating artists and film-makers from around the world. Since the beginning of february, the film got released in 6 staggered waves 2 weeks apart, with 4-5 sections uploaded in each wave.

About the release:

‘Coalition of The Willing’ is a film that discusses how we can use new internet technologies to leverage the powers of activists, experts, and ordinary citizens in collaborative ventures to combat climate change. Through analyses of swarm activity and social revolution, ‘Coalition of the Willing’ makes a compelling case for the new online activism and explains how to bring the fight against global warming to the people. As the film tackles the subject of online activism, the makers decided that the logical home for ‘Coalition of The Willing’ is online.
