The Irritation Blues

by “Nivea for men”




Do you know the feeling when you use the wrong deodorant? It feels kind of itchy and painful! For our latest spot for Nivea for men we wanted to demonstrate this little predicament in a provocative and entertaining way. NETEYE came up with the idea for the spot and our director Norbert Heitker turned the whole scenario into a cinematic symphony documenting men and their daily morning routines. For this chart breaker we recorded the sounds of men using their deodorants and mixed it all together to create a howling masterpiece of music: Volume up for the irritation blues.

How epic beer is made

There have been a lot of great beer ads over the years. But the Hahn Brewery in Australia released “the most epic” beer ad of all time. Their idea was to expose the beer to as much “epicness” in the brewing process that they could, so that it simply couldn’t come out not kicking ass. Anyone in for an after-work pint?

About a year ago, O2 put an end to the tariff “jungle” and set new standards in the market with O2 o. The best bit: those who make fewer calls pay less, those who make no calls pay nothing at all!

VCCP Berlin came up with an idea of a papercut story and we had the perfect solution. Our French director’s duo Moustache (exclusively in Germany with Parasol) took out their magic scissors and conjured 83 seconds full of eye candy.

Parasol Island and the Topmodels

O2 & Sony Ericsson VIVAZ


Shooting on a high rise building is a popular task at Germany’s Next Topmodel.

We also took up that challenge and built a whole set above the rooftops of Lisbon for the production of the new O2 & Sony Ericsson commercial for Serviceplan Munich.

“We can do it in post” is a sentence often heard at commercial productions, especially if the board could be realised with a greenscreen shoot. However, we really wanted to capture that “on-location”-feel.

So we ended up on the 15th floor of a shopping mall with a 30 men crew – headed by director Marc R. Wilkins and DoP Sten Mende. They realised Serviceplan’s idea with one RED and three Nikons.

It became clear that the typical O2 sky together with a lit-up city could only be caught right after sunset. A difficult task since time to get all relevant shots would be limited to 30 minutes, to short to film a whole commercial. To play it safe, we shot the backgrounds as 360 degree HDR images, and replaced city and sky during postproduction.

In order to create a realistic and beautiful lightwriting, we worked with long exposure photography during the shoot and combined it with 3d lightwriting for the VIVAZ-logo.

Sorry, but today we don’t have a picture for you… although we have the finished spot.

Bluemotion

New work of Jean-Paul Frenay




Yes, it’s paperwork-day at Parasol Island. Our director Jean-Paul Frenay did a new spot for Volkswagen (DDB Belgium). The idea of the commercial is that it is shot with the least CO2 emission possible. The whole set was build with recycled material, and all the animation/movement was done using ‘manpower’ only. Even if we didn’t produce it, we really like that one ;)
